Positive Physical Response: Immediately after the point ends, demonstrate a positive physical reaction, regardless of the outcome. This might mean standing tall, keeping your head up, and avoiding any negative body language like slumping shoulders. Positive physical cues reinforce mental resilience and confidence.

Relaxation: Take a few deep breaths to center yourself. This helps slow your heart rate and brings a sense of calm, resetting your mind and body. Use deep breathing techniques to help clear any frustration or anxiety from the last point.

Preparation: Begin to mentally prepare for the next point. Visualize how you’ll execute your next serve or rally. Picture yourself playing with precision, focus, and confidence. This step directs your mind to a clear, positive goal.

Commitment: Set a clear intention for the next point. Whether it’s a specific shot or a strategic approach, focus on what you want to achieve. Make a firm decision about how you’ll approach the point, helping eliminate doubt and build mental strength.

Pre Match Routines

In order to easily get themselves into an optimal mental state which enables them to play their best game, every player needs to rely on numerous routines
Pre-match rituals and routines are crucial for mentally preparing elite tennis players. These unique rituals can range from warm-up exercises to visualization techniques.
Physical warm-ups, such as stretching and light aerobic activities, help prevent injuries and signal that it’s time to focus on the match.
Mental imagery or visualization involves players picturing successful shots, fluid movement, and winning key points, building confidence and familiarity with match scenarios.
Relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation calm nerves, reduce stress, and promote a clear mind for optimal performance.
Establishing a routine before each match provides familiarity and control. This can include listening to music, organizing equipment, or following specific superstitions to create stability in an unpredictable sport.
In Match Routines
Importance of Consistancy

Routines are important not just before matches but also during the match. Champions commit to habits of excellence that are followed with discipline, helping to maintain focus and concentration during the tennis match.
Know your game plan and commit to executing it. Use performance cues like “one point at a time” or “play with margin” to create the right mindset.
Follow a consistent routine between points that prepares you for each point. Respond with positive body language and maintain a confident presence on the court.
Recover with deep breathing. Refocus by visualizing the next point.Ready yourself for the next point with rituals like bouncing the ball or getting into an athletic stance. These actions help quiet the mind and focus on the upcoming point.
On changeovers, sit down, hydrate, and reflect. If things are going well, stay simple-minded and commit to what’s working. If struggling, think of solutions and take more time between points to refocus and commit to your game plan
